A question

  • Jun. 26th, 2008 at 9:08 PM

I interrupt an entry which would have otherwise been deeply angst-ridden to ask...

Can anyone recommend a good/cheap Joomla bible or tutorial? If it helps, I am less concerned with extensive functionality than I am with templates.

No, this is not work-related. Yes, that might mean what you think it means.

Comments, email or IM...thanks in advance!

Yesterday I started sneaking peeks at Google Reader (I know, I'm a cheater) and I came across the Wigleaf Top 50 (Very) Short Fiction of 2008 list. The fiction on it is indeed very short and very good. I spent a happy hour or so reading a lot of it.

I backed out to the front page and noticed the link below it, Other Stories from the Long Shortlist. Cool, I thought, looking through that list, I can bookmark this for when I have more time.

Then, I saw this:

Fitzgerald, Erin, “Four Sieges,” HOBART (July, ’07)

I haven't won anything since 1993, so I am pretty happy.

A fact of which I was reminded today

Every single fortune cookie I have opened since last summer has referenced me traveling somewhere.

My goal for today

I will remember that watching the American Idol results show always makes me think "Well, there's an hour I'll never get back", and NOT WATCH IT. That is what the Internet and/or talking to others tomorrow is for.

Things I could do instead, in case I need further persuasion:
-- Continue reading The Savage Detectives, which I'm really digging so far.
-- Complete a rewrite of a story I want to get out the door by this time next week.
-- Start something new. Dear god, start something new....
-- Ride the bike while continuing to watch Casino Royale. NOT AMERICAN IDOL.
-- Play pretty much any damn video game.
-- Countless other things that do not involve Ryan Seacrest, Kellie Pickler, or handsome Australian men who nevertheless need to be thrown to the wolves.

P.S. I'm not even going to try resisting the AI/Hell's Kitchen double feature that begins on 4/1. If Fox added a third hour that alternated between Freaks and Geeks and episodes of The Office with Andy Bernard in them? You'd never see me again.

Poll #1084241 OMG A POLL!! Comments are open and welcome.

For me, changing Livejournal stuff is like getting a haircut. Things are different at first, but eventually it all settles down to the same old me.
